Richmond Promise Stands With Dreamers

Dear Richmond Promise Community and DACAmented/Undocumented Students:

Yesterday, the Trump Administration proposed to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program after a six-month period and afford Congress an opportunity to enact new immigration legislation.  The DACA program was first established by former President Obama in 2012. It grants temporary protection for eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation.

The DACA Program has been aligned with the Richmond Promise mission of creating open pathways for students of all backgrounds to pursue their dreams of higher education and become positive leaders of their communities.

We consider our students, regardless of immigration status to be valuable members and future leaders of our community. Richmond Promise plans to continue to support, welcome, and offer services to our undocumented students, including continuing to allow Richmond students who are Dreamers to apply for, and receive the Richmond Promise scholarship and supporting these students through degree completion.
